My name is Rev. Dr. Thom Slaughter and my wife's name is Debbie. We have three beautiful daughters and ten grandchildren.
I spent fifteen years in the nightclub circuit as a singer and musician but never could find that total peace. On January 12, 1981, I came to a crossroad that needed a decision. Thanks to a praying mother, who instilled the things of God in me as a child, I knew that Jesus was the way. There have been several mentors that have guided me through scripture, prayer, and friendship. It has taken time and patience on God's part to mold me into what I am today, because He had a plan, purpose, and calling to use the gifts and talents He has given me.
Debbie on the other hand has known the Lord for as long as she can remember. Health problems have plagued her most of her life, but God has been faithful in His healing. But one of the greatest blessings that God gave her, was His protection during the death and destruction on the streets of New York City on September 11, 2001. God had His loving arms around her and sent her an angel to guide her from the dangers of the attack at the World Trade Centers. As part of this ministry, she shares her testimony of God's healing of several bouts with cancer and His wonderful protection on September 11, 2001.
We have come to the end of our working careers which was our first wind. Now, God has given us a second wind, and thus, Second Wind Ministry was born. We feel a calling to give back to the One who gave everything for us. We are going to nursing homes, senior centers, campgrounds, and churches of all denominations as God makes a way. We pray that you will be encouraged to invite us, that we may share our ministry with you.
